WAIT LIST ONLY- EMAIL
Wouldn't it be nice if your family could move your student into their dorm early? Avoiding lines, crowded parking lots, having more time to say goodbye? Wouldn't it be even nicer if you could start off your college experience with a group of close friends before Welcome Week events even begin?
We've got you covered.

Join us August 19th-21st, 2025 for Camp WaJew!
The BJC is thrilled to be hosting "Camp WaJew," an early-move-in experience for incoming Jewish students. Designed, organized, and led by current students, Camp WaJew offers families the opportunity to move into dorms early, followed by a two-night immersive experience for incoming students.

Participating in Session K? Reach out to [email protected] for more information on how to coordinate between the two.

Check out last year's itinerary and some student testimonials about the experience:

Richard S. Glasser Hillel Jewish Leadership Institute

HJLI is an opportunity for First Year students to participate in a leadership and programming planning course that helps them understand the UVA Jewish community. Over 8 weeks in the Fall, students work with BJC staff and peer mentors in the Design Thinking approach. Beyond getting to make new friends in their class and develop bonds as a cohort, they learn to identify needs in our Hillel community. They then work in teams to put together program proposals they then execute in the spring semester. After HJLI, the next generation of Hillel leaders are ready!

Programs that have been born from student initiatives proposed at HJLI include Camp Wajew, Chutzpals, Lunch & Learn seminars with Professors, and inter-year social events. HJLI is core to our mission as a Hillel, and we hope you can join us for an inspiring learning experience.

First Year Engagement Interns Are Here For You!
