Welcome Class of 2030!
We are so excited to welcome a new class of WaJews to our community in August. The BJC is here to make the transition to college simple, fun, and meaningful for families. Sign up for incoming student events, find a student mentor, connect with us on social media, and learn about the amazing students who will be helping you build community at UVA below!
Richard S. Glasser Hillel Jewish Leadership Institute
HJLI is an opportunity for First Year students to participate in a leadership and programming planning course that helps them understand the UVA Jewish community. Over 8 weeks in the Fall, students work with BJC staff and peer mentors in the Design Thinking approach. Beyond getting to make new friends in their class and develop bonds as a cohort, they learn to identify needs in our Hillel community. They then work in teams to put together program proposals they then execute in the spring semester. After HJLI, the next generation of Hillel leaders are ready!
Programs that have been born from student initiatives proposed at HJLI include Camp Wajew, Chutzpals, Lunch & Learn seminars with Professors, and inter-year social events. HJLI is core to our mission as a Hillel, and we hope you can join us for an inspiring learning experience.
