We take our responsibility to Jewish students seriously, and do all we can to make them feel cared for, empowered, challenged, and valued the way they do at home. It is our hope that parents feel comfortable knowing that Hillel is a home away from home for many students, and we take care to make that home warm and open for anyone who needs it.

Ways to get involved

Though parents are more than welcome to join us at Hillel anytime throughout the year, we also have a few events specifically for students to bring family to.

• Move-in Shabbat 
  Dinner and Services are located at the Brody Jewish Center (directions on our FAQ). Services begin at 5:45 p.m. and dinner begins at 6:30. Parking available. 
• Move-in Bagel Brunch
  Between hauling your student's furniture into their dorm or apartment and countless trips to Bed, Bath, and Beyond for the one thing you forgot, stop by the Brody Jewish Center for a bagel, lox, and a tour of the facility. 
• Parents' Weekend Shabbat
  Dinner and Services are located at the Brody Jewish Center. Services begin at 5:45p.m. and dinner begins at 6:30. Parking available. 
• Fourth Year Cocktail Celebration 
  Join Hillel in celebrating the class of 2024 with a cocktail party sendoff. This party typically happens the Friday evening before commencement.

In addition to the above list, be on the lookout for networking events throughout the year and country.

Because Hillel is made of up of a staff of only five full-time professionals, we're always looking for extra hands and ideas. If you're interested in getting involved with the Brody Jewish Center, please consider one of the ways below.

• Become a resource for students
  Are you an expert in your field? Do you have the ability to help students network and find internship or job opportunities? Let us know what you do, and we'll add you to our ever-growing list of student resources.
• Donate - Click here to support us
  Did you know parent giving makes up a major part of our annual fundraising budget? Last year, parents contributions totaled more than $35,000. We are so appreciative of parent investment and support. If you have any questions, or are interested in funding specific programs or initiatives, reach out to Director of Development, Truman Brody-Boyd.
• Join our Parent network
  Hillel maintains a parent network made up of parents throughout the country with Jewish students at UVA. Reach out to Truman for more information!
