About Student Leadership
Hillel at UVA's Student leadership model puts engagement at the heart of our work. With just about 1000 Jewish students at UVA, our goal is to connect each student to the areas of Judaism in which they find meaning. Our student leaders are here to help make that happen. Learn more about the roles our students can take on to help build their ideal Jewish community here at UVA!

Jewish Leadership Advisory Board 2023-2024
The advisory board works to carry out the vision of the Brody Jewish Center, acting as strategic partners with staff and student interns.
Programming Interns
The Programmatic Interns facilitate event and program planning for the Jewish community at UVa. Internship roles address specific categories of programming needs such as Tikkun Olam, religious life, social events, and more!
Engagement Interns
Engagement interns enhance the diversity and creativity of programs on Grounds that enable students to connect to the Jewish community, Jewish tradition and Israel. According to Hillel, engagement is the act of reaching others, getting to know them and connecting them to relevant and meaningful opportunities. The Brody Jewish Center is excited to work with a cohort of innovative, enthusiastic leaders that serve as community organizers and create a welcoming atmosphere for Jewish students at UVa. Each intern focuses on a specific population or interest group at the University.
First Year Engagement Interns
Our First Year engagement interns are here to help First Year students connect with the Jewish community at UVA in any way they want! From 1:1 coffee dates to group activities and events, the First Year Engagement Interns have the backs of new students, and the relationships the interns build with them last throughout college.
Hoos for Israel (HFI)
As the University's pro-Israel student organization, Hoos for Israel works to strengthen support for Israel on Grounds through cultural and educational programming. Popular events have included Krav Maga instruction, engaging discussion groups, organizing Israel Fest, and visits from guest speakers.
